WiMAX Development in Asia March 14-20

- Taiwanese WiMAX carrier VMax announced that the company plans to invest over NT$1 billion (US$33.8 million; US$1=NT$29.6) in network expansion in 2011, according to a March 18, 2011 report by the Commercial Times of Taiwan. It is reported that VMax plans to procure network equipment that is compatible with both WiMAX and LTE (Long Term Evolution) for its network expansion this year.

- Tranzeo has sealed a supply agreement with Tata Communications to provide broadband wireless access equipment for Tata's network service deployment, according to a March 17, 2011 report by the Marketwire. It is reported that Tata will deploy Tranzeo's WiMAX and Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) solutions in more than 20 cities throughout India.
